Is there anyone involved in the collection or production of Japanese blades who isn't familiar with Fred Lohman? He's been supplying the community for decades. Now, at our request, Fred has put together an iaido shinken exclusively for SDK Supplies.

This is a stock removal blade which is made out of 1080 steel, clay tempered and water quenched. It is hand polished in the Japanese way for iaido. The blade, polish, and fittings are all done in the USA to Fred's exacting standards. This blade was designed as a tough, affordable and customizable shinken for the practice of iaido.

The blade can be made to any length you specify, up to a full 3 shaku. Please note that these are hand made items and there may be some small variation in the length and weight from blade to blade.

The fittings are supplied by Fred, and the tsuka (hilt) is a full same (rayskin) wrap.

Once again, in response to inquiries from you, we introduce yet another line of swords. This time it's an iaito from Fred Lohman. The methodology used to make this exclusive SDK production is to take an iaito (aluminum alloy) blade, habaki and saya from Fujiwara Kanefusa, and have it mounted by Fred Lohman. We coordinate this process so you don't have to worry about the details.

To obtain the iaito of your dreams, simply select a blade, saya and habaki from our Fujiwara Kanefusa pages and then select the rest of the fittings from Fred Lohman (go up on this page for more information on that). The saya will be fitted with a horn kurigata and kojiri.

You may choose any fittings from Fujiwara and from Lohman for your iaito. Simple? Not really, you might spend years trying to decide what you want!

As you can well imagine, these are not "off the shelf" iaito, and you will have to wait a bit after placing your order.

"It's not exactly full of beautiful models in undies but you might find something you want."

Items from this catalog are sold to support the University of Guelph Sei Do Kai. The Sei Do Kai provides training in Iaido, Kendo, Niten Ichi-ryu Kenjutsu and Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo through classes, seminars and camps.
